Looks like we have another DCEU film in the works. A Deathstroke solo movie is reported in the works at Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. has announced that Joe Manganiello will portray the formidable assassin and was set to make his cinematic debut in the upcoming Batman solo film. Unfortunately, Matt Reeves, the current director of the Batman film, has other plans for the film which does not necessarily involve Slade Wilson as the primary antagonist. There has been rumors that Manganiello will portray the character in the upcoming Justice League film, but even that seems to be just a rumor after all. With many fans praising Warner Bros. casting of Manganiello as Deathstroke, you can expect it won’t be long before we see the mercenary in action.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that The Raid director Gareth Evans is in early talks to write and direct the Deathstroke solo film that will star Joe Manganiello. It is worth noting that have no any confirmed deals with either Evans or Manganiello as of yet, so at this point, we just have to be hopeful and wait patiently.
Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, is among the more popular members of DC Comics’ villains and one of the few characters that can match up to Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman in hand to hand combat. Following his debut in 1980’s New Teen Titans #2, Deathstroke has since cemented himself as a formidable villain for almost every DC Comics heroes. Wilson has been shown to possess a limited healing factor, enhanced strength, speed, agility and durability. Coupled with his profound knowledge on the use of a multitude of weaponry, Slade Wilson is widely known as the greatest assassin in the DC Universe.
Warner Bros.’ upcoming DCEU film, Justice League, will premiere in Nov. 13 and hits theaters on Nov. 17.
