As promised, Warner Bros. has allowed for the release of certain details about the upcoming movie and has the internet buzzing.
The synopsis of the film reads:
Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Set to take place several months after the ends of BvS, DC has further announced that the film would involve multiple villains, of which Steppenwolf and Darkseid confirmed, with the former slated to be the primary antagonist. While Darkseid may not be the main enemy, there have been statements that alluded to him having a strong presence throughout the film – much like Thanos of the MCU.
With Jesse Eisenberg set to return for the superhero team up and new heroes joining the DCEU, Warner Bros. promises us a lighter tone with more humour involved. Said to revolve around the quest for three Mother Boxes; one on Earth, one in Atlantis, and one in Themyscira, DC has also revealed the 2017 movie will include William Dafoe as Vulko. There are many ways to describe Vulko – a mentor, a betrayer or just a pathetic man. What would this mean from the DCEU? Throne of Atlantis. For readers of the New 52 Aquaman title, you would be aware of Vulko’s role in aforementioned arc and subsequent arcs. While i’m skeptical of this casting, having the character in the universe certainly opens a lot of doors for the upcoming Aquaman movie.
