Last month, it was revealed that Grace Fulton, known recently for her starring role in Annabelle: Creation, will be joining David F. Sanberg and Zachary Levi in the upcoming DCEU film Shazam!. As of today, it has been confirmed by Sandberg himself through Instagram that young actress will be playing Mary Baston AKA Mary Marvel.
Shazam! is still in the casting stage of development, there is a lot of hype surrounding the film as (the original) Captain Marvel has been around since February 1942 in Whiz Comics #2, a mere 4 years after Superman appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938.
Currently, the cast of Shazam! includes Disney’s Andi Mack star Asher Angel (young Billy Batson), Chuck star Zachary Levi (Captain Marvel AKA Shazam), and Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freedman). There have been rumors recently that Kingman star Mark Strong might be joining the film has supervillain Doctor Sivana.
Shazam! is scheduled for a 2019 release and is set to go into production next year, likely making it the next DCEU movie after next year’s Aquaman starring Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa, who made his full debut as Arthur Curry last month in Justice League.
Justice League is out in theatres now, and Aquaman is scheduled for release on December 21, 2018.
