A while ago, NetherRealm teased the reveal of a new playable character for their upcoming game Injustice 2. As promised, the character has been revealed to be none other than the avatar of The Green, a supernatural force that governs over plant life, AKA the Swamp Thing. This announcement follows an earlier reveal of metahuman fighter Black Canary.
Swamp Thing is a totally new character to the Injustice series, having not appeared in the original Injustice: Gods Among Us, which is in line with NetherRealm’s promise that this sequel would incorporate the more obscure and lesser known characters of the DC Universe. The avatar of The Green joins the list of confirmed playable characters so far which includes Batman, Blue Beetle, Black Canary, Flash, Harley Quinn, Superman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, Aquaman, and Atrocitus. In the trailer (see below), we see Swamp Thing battling it out against Robin (Damian Wayne), Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Amazonian Princess of Themyscira, Wonder Woman. For the most part, Swamp Thing’s combat actions fully utilizes his connection to The Green to create clones of himself and weapons which he uses to pummel his enemies – definitely a character worth checking out.
Developed by NetherRealm Studios, Injustice 2 is the latest offering of console games inspired by DC Comics characters.
