Spider-Man is set to make his PlayStation 4 debut this coming year!
If you discount the movie adaptions such as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and LEGO adaptations such as LEGO Marvel’s Avengers and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, Spider-Man has yet to grace the successor to Sony’s PlayStation 3.

From the trailer, fans are given a glimpse into the general theme and atmosphere of the game. While details on the mechanics and gameplay has not be released, it is not too far a stretch to assume that it would add distinctive elements that players are bound enjoy. Developed by Insomniac Games, the currently untitled game is slated for release sometime in mid 2017, presumably to coincide with the 16th addition to the MCU, Spider-Man: Homecoming. That said, the developer has confirmed that the game will in no way be tied to the aforementioned movie.
… we also want to introduce new elements that players have never experienced with Spider-Man, ranging from traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, to new combat and blockbuster set-pieces.
Ranked by IGN as one of the leading video game developers, Insomniac Games has over their 22 years garnered critical acclaim for majority of their releases such as Sunset Overdrive and Resistance 3. Hence, fans can surely expect great things from this upcoming game.
