The sequel to the widely successful 2013 Injustice game has officially been confirmed.
Due to release in 2017, ‘Injustice 2’ claims to improve on the first installment by not only adding new characters and playing fields but also increase the player’s ability of interact with the environment. NetherRealm included in their release statement that customizability will be one of the new features that the sequel is going to offer. Branded as the Gear System, players would be able to experiment with the design of their favorite heroes and villains thereby allowing them to create their own unique Injustice Universe.
With each passing game, the Gear System rewards players with character-specific loot drops that reflects each player’s unique play-style. While it is undoubtedly a bold addition, the need for a relatively large variety of items does make the idea somewhat questionable. On top of serving as an aesthetic improvement, these armors provide distinct powers to augment the character’s fighting style allowing for a more personalized technique and strategy for every match. As players continue to build up their roster of DC Heroes and Villains, Injustice 2 claims to be programmed such that decisions made on the characters played and fighting maneuvers will reflect these characteristics making the one’s gameplay and character design totally distinct from an opponent’s.
A few play sessions in, you can expect your Aquaman to look and play different than anyone else’s Aquaman you may come across.
If that isn’t enough to capture your attention, Injustice 2 aims to expand on its lore to a greater detail and seamlessly assimilate newer additions into the story that ended with Superman being trapped in a prison cell. Given the success of the first installment, it is likely that this upcoming sequel will quickly gain traction and gather fans from across the globe in excitement for the future of this unique adaptation of the DC Universe.
