FANS REJOICE! It appears that there will be ANOTHER DC Comics TV show on the way.
DC Comics president and legendary writer Geoff Johns posted a rather unambiguous tweet shortly after ringing in the new year, which teases more DC Comics shows are in development and one of them will be announced soon.
With Supergirl‘s move to CW from CBS, the Arrowverse currently has shows in 4 out of the 7 days of the week. This lead to heavy speculation that The CW is working on a fifth superhero series to fill up the Friday slot, one of the most popular rumors is that the show would be a Young Justice adaptation given the characters that have been introduced to the shows last year. However, hold off on celebrating yet as the tweet did not explicitly mention that this new show would be part of the Arrowverse or in The CW for that matter as it also referenced Fox’s Gotham and Lucifer. It should be noted that this show could be animated given the positive response that Justice League Action has gotten – maybe even the official date for the return of the highly anticipated Young Justice Season 3.
With pilots for Krypton (a Superman prequel series) ordered by Syfy, Black Lightning ordered by Fox and Scapled ordered by WGN America, it could be any of these that Johns is referring to. Maybe even one of those rumored to be in-development – Titans, which has since been dropped by TNT, or Static Shock. Johns really didn’t give us much in his tweet, but the fact that another DC show is coming is enough for us to get excited!
Geoff has also teased his return to writing comics and the return of Watchmen character Dr. Manhattan in the following tweet:
And 1) Writing comics again… stay tuned! Happy New Year!!! pic.twitter.com/zUvs4NIXhM
