Black Adam May Debut In Upcoming Suicide Squad Sequel

The latest rumor regarding Suicide Squad 2 points towards Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam being the villain of the film. The report comes from two separate insider sources who have confirmed that “the current plan for the sequel is for the members of Suicide Squad to be tasked with tracking down a weapon of mass destruction. That weapon? Black Adam himself.”

So far, the reception to this news has been rather positive - as positive as it can be given that many fans/viewers have yet to get over the travesty that was the 2016 Suicide Squad staring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne and Viola Davis. Dwayne Johnson made a statement earlier this year that said that it will be unlikely that he will make his debut as Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam! film, which is already in production. This rumor could very well be true.

While Black Adam is traditionally known as a Shazam villain, he has a strong backstory and his position as the ruler of Kahndaq to be a strong villain for Suicide Squad 2. For those not in the know, Kahndaq is an Arab country on the continent of Africa located between Egypt and Jordan. Black Adam eventually became the "guardian" of Kahndaq and is treated like a god amongst the nation's citizens. He issued several draconian laws, including public executions every Wednesday, which Black Adam carried out himself. He would certainly be a tough opponent for the Suicide Squad, which is exactly why it would be great to use him as a villain.

With both Suicide Squad 2 and Shazam! in production, we might actually get to see both these iconic characters appear in 2019, however maybe not in the same film. Regardless, it is exciting to know that we have both out Black Adam and Captain Marvel in our DCEU, having the latter been recently casted.

In the meantime, the next DCEU film Justice League will hit theatres on Nov 17.
