DCEU ‘Deathstroke’ Project May Be On Hold

Following the reshuffling of priorities at WB/DC after the underwhelming performance of ‘Justice League’, quite a few projects that had been confirmed have been taken off the board – ‘Cyborg’ and ‘Deadshot’ are some examples. It appears that the highly anticipated Deathstroke solo film may Ben joining that list.In an interview with Inverse, director Gareth Evans revealed that he has not had talks with WB regarding the project for a long time.

I went off to make Apostle and didn’t hear anything since then. It’s been a good, good, good while since I’ve had any conversations about that project. I don’t know what’s gonna happen, or when, with me or without me.

Rumors have been floating that Deathstroke, played by Joe Manganiello, will serve as an antagonist in the upcoming Suicide Squad 2. However, with James Gunn (GOTG) replacing Gavin O’Connor as director, that could be off the table too.

While a solo film is unnecessary, the character is an integral part of the DC Universe, and should be respected as such. We may still see him in the upcoming Batman solo film, directed by Matt Reeves.
