Marvel Studios may have greenlit a sequel to 2016’s ‘Dr. Strange’, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, but other than knowing that it’s in the plans, not much else is known about the film – not even a scheduled release date – till now.
Benedict Wong, who plays Wong in the MCU, recently hinted of his return to the sequel at Fan Expo Vancouver. That itself isn’t big news, but he also teased that he will be returning to the character at the end of the year which would likely mean that they will start filming soon.
Given the success of ‘Dr. Strange’, grossing over $677.7 million at the box office, as well as fans reception to character, both in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, it’s no surprise this sequel is on the priority list. With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ put on hold indefinitely (along with rumors of a new roster) due to the James Gunn controversy early this year, the ‘Dr. Strange’ sequel be coming sooner than we think.
