Brie Larson is the Marvel Studio’s newest star. Set to headline the first ever female led solo origin movie in the ever growing Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is making a big splash on the internet today with the release of 10 exclusive images as well as gracing the cover of Entertainment Weekly.
While Marvel fans and those of the MCU have known about Captain Marvel joining the Avengers for quite awhile now, most casual viewers would have picked that up from the mid credits scene in May’s Avengers: Infinity War where we saw Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, send a personal page to her. She is set to make a second appearance in the currently untitled Avengers 4.
But before we see her joining the Avengers to beat up Thanos and save the Universe, we will see Brie Larson portray her in her own origin story against the Skrulls. The Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed film will see Carol come to terms with her origins and embrace her destiny by joining an elite Kree military team known as Starforce led by Mar-Vell, played by Jude Law.
“She can’t help but be herself. She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw.”
Marvel Studios also released 10 exclusive images from the upcoming film which gives us a first look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, the return of Ronan the Accuser (from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1.) and the first look at the Skrulls, which will play a big role in the movie. See below:
Captain Marvel will be the MCU’s 21st entry and the first of 3 Marvel Studios films next year. Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
