General Zod Has His Eyes Set On National City in 'Supergirl'

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Arrowverse is set to return for the last stretch of this season next week following its month long spring break and we can’t be more excited. Supergirl has had a relatively good season thus far with the introduction of Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Cadmus into the Arrowverse and it’s not stopping anytime soon. It has just been reported that General Zod, one of the more dangerous archenemies of Superman, is set to make his debut in the series during the season 2 final and will be portrayed by Mark Gibbon.

Gibbon has made numerous minor appearances in the CW hit show Smallville as well as a minor role in 2013’s Man of Steel. He is clearly no stranger to the Superman mythology.

With the Daxamite army assembling themselves lead by Queen of Daxam, Rhea, portrayed by the beautiful Teri Hatcher as well as the brewing conflict with Cadmus lead by Lillian Luthor, portrayed by fiercely gorgeous Brenda Strong, adding another villain to the mix seems like an odd thing to do especially since we don’t really know what the endgame of this seasons is going to be – we are still unclear who the real big bad is. Not to mention the reveal that President Marsdin (Lynda Carter) is supposedly a white martian, that’s a whole other problem. That said, can we take some time to appreciate that we have a mini Desperate Housewives reunion here. Who knows? Maybe some day Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffmanand NIcollette Sheridan might make their way to National City too! Unlikely, but it’s fun to dream.

General Zod needs no introduction having been the main villain for numerous superman adaptations such as Smallville and the 2013 DCEU film Man of Steel. It is plausible that he will be introduced towards the end of the finale as the main villain for next season. Zod isn’t a typical villain and definitely not a one off type of character. Supergirl will need to properly develop the character before the climactic faceoff with Supergirl (and maybe Superman).

Supergirl will return this coming Monday in an episode that features villain Biomax, played by iZombie star Rahul Kohli. The episode will test the boundaries of Kara and Lena’s relationship since the villain is a former flame of the latter which would serve as great platform to develop this unlikely relationship.[/vc_column_text][vc_facebook][/vc_column][/vc_row]
