[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It’s official! Katie Cassidy will be return as a series regular for the upcoming season of Arrow as Earth 2’s Black Siren. She will reprise the role in the last two episodes of this season to build up her return to the show.
[su_quote cite=”Marc Guggenheim, Arrow Executive Producer”]One of the things that most excites us about Arrow is that we go where the story takes us. Last year, the story took us to the tragic death of Laurel Lance. This year, our midseason finale reintroduced us to Laurel’s doppelgänger, Black Siren. We were so taken by Katie’s fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Katie back to Arrow as Black Siren, though as her appearances on Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow this season show, she never really left the family.[/su_quote]
Katie Cassidy’s character Dinah Laurel Lance on the CW hit show Arrow has always been a polarizing one among the arrowverse fan base. One thing we can all agree on is that the character has been terrible mishandled. From lackluster action sequences to dreadful character arcs, even Cassidy’s charm and beauty isn’t able to breathe life into it, though she did give it a good shot. When she appeared in the shocking cliffhanger during the midseason finale this season, many fans were excited for her return to the show but even that was mishandled. Her return as Black Siren brought forth a legitimate threat to the Arrow team, this was while the Prometheus threat was still brewing.
The death of the Black Canary last season was one of the biggest problems of the season 4. While the producers claim that it felt like the proper transition for the character, the fan base really didn’t seem to agree. Her return as Black Siren is a rare opportunity for the show to finally get it right. With Dinah Drake already in line to take up the mantle of the Black Canary, how would Black Siren fit in? Will she be the main villain of the next season? Or will she undergo a whole redemption arc? Either way, it’s just exciting to have her back!
Arrow airs on Wednesdays on the CW.[/vc_column_text][vc_facebook][/vc_column][/vc_row]
