Following the release of the two posters and the teaser for the trailer a few days ago, Marvel Studio has dropped the new trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming – and it is amazing!
This is the second, and most likely the final, trailer for the upcoming solo film starting Tom Holland as the web-slinging hero. The first trailer was released last December. The trailer made its debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, like most of the other Marvel Cinematic Universe films
Spider-Man: Homecoming marks the second time Marvel Studios is collaborating with Sony Pictures to bring the New York based hero into the MCU, following Holland’s debut in last years box office hit Captain America: Civil War – to which he received significant praise from both fans and critics. The highly anticipated film will also have Robert Downey Jr. reprise his iconic role as the billionaire inventor and superhero Iron Man. He will serve as an mentor and guide for Peter Parker’s journey to become a superhero, as seen in the trailer.
The trailer itself has many fun moments and appears to be even more comedic than the other MCU films – acceptable given that the primary audience would be younger teenagers. One of the more impressive moments is seeing Michael Keaton in his role as Adrian Toomes AKA Vulture. Constantly appearing threatening, Keaton is undoubtedly perfect to challenge Parker in this first solo outing as Spider-Man without taking it too far. Another memorable moment from the trailer was when Tony Stark (RDJ), reprimanded Parker (Holland) for going out on his own which could have ended badly if it weren’t for Stark’s help. Behaving like a father figure, really brought a new dimension to Downey’s character. It’s nice to see that the character is still evolving despite not having any more solo films.
