Hugh Jackman may be ending his run as the iconic X-Men Wolverine, but he is going to make sure his name will be remembered. 20th Century Fox has just released the final trailer for the final film in the Wolverine Trilogy Logan and highlights Laura Kinney.
Portrayed by new comer Dafne Keen, Laura Kinney is shown as a vicious and worthy successor to Jackman’s Wolverine in the trailer. Logan centers around the former X-Men and a much older Professor X, portrayed by Patrick Stewart, who is battling some problems of his own. Due to the decline of his mutant powers, Logan is seen in a constant state of pain which forces him to self-medicates with alcohol – if there was any doubt, Logan is not going to like any of the other films in the X-Men franchise. The movie will be rated R so you can expect the famous clawed beast to wreck havoc in epic battles as he protects Kinney from people who want to use her, the Transigen, an evil organization.
While Logan is the latest entry to the X-Men franchise, it is confirmed to be set in a distant future with a Western vibe. With X-23 taking over the mantle of Wolverine, it is still a mystery how she will fit in with the universe as a whole. Given the time difference, it is unlikely she will be seen with the new X-Men that made their debut in last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse. With X-Men’s New Mutants slated for a 2018 release, there is little known about the upcoming film, but fans are hoping that Kinney will make an appearance given how popular X-23 is among comic book fans.
With Deadpool 2 set for a 2018 release, fans are hoping that Jackman would join Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth and the rumored Pierce Brosnan as Cable despite having said that Logan will be his last film. With a picture of the three of them circulating around the internet, it is definitely a possibility.
Logan stars X-Men veterans Hugh Jackman as the titular character and Patrick Stewart , Stephen Merchant as Caliban, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce and Richard E. Grant as Dr. Zander Rice. Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
