Believe and it will come.
More than three years have passed since the critically acclaimed animated show Young Justice concluded. Following the end of the second season, fans from all over the globe has rallied to petition for the series to continue. At long last, warner Bros. Animation has officially confirmed that the third season of Young Justice is in the works.
Even though the only news we have on this revival is that original executive producers, Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman, will be headlining the series, this news alone has gotten attention from fans and we could not be more excited. Garnering excellent ratings during its two season run on CN, fans were puzzled as to why the series was not immediately renewed. Even without any information or guarantees that a third season would be ordered, fans of the show have not wavered in their hope that the show would return.
With the Arrowverse introducing Young Justice characters such as Miss Martian in Supergirl, Wally West in Flash, Artemis in Arrow, rumours that the series would be revived in the Arrowverse garnered significant attention. It is worth noting the news of a renewed third season is not indicative that a live action Young Justice is beyond the realm of possibilities. After all, the characters are already there, they just have to bring them together.
In a era where most of DC’s animated shows revolve around kiddish designs (that are frankly a disgrace to the franchise – such as Teen Titans Go and DC’s Super Hero Girls), Young Justice was a breath of fresh air not only in terms of animation but storylines. The success of the DC Animated Original Movies, no matter how impressive, can never rival a strong tv series – they are of two very different worlds after all.
It is currently unclear if the series would pick up from last season’s ending with the apparent death of Kid Flash or time-jump to a distant future. Regardless, we can take comfort in knowing that Vietti and Weisman will oversee the series.
Goes to show that having faith and hope does make anything possible. Welcome Back Young Justice.
